Tritetraflexagon

 

A tritetraflexagon is a type of flexagon that is a square shape. A flexagon can be flexed, revealing sides that are originally hidden. In this case, a tritetraflexagon has three sides, one of which is hidden but comes into view when flexed. These are usually made out of paper and use either tape or glue. More sophisticated variants can be flexed in more ways, but this one can only be flexed once and in one direction. It is an ideal starting point for people who want to get interested in flexagons as it is relatively simpe to make and flex. Once you have mastered it, you should consider trying out more advanced flexagons, such as the tetratetraflexagon.

To make a tritetraflexagon you will need to make and cut the following diagram.

Now fold both 1s on the left hand side backwards to end up with the following diagram.

Now fold the rightmost column forward and onto the column beside it to end up with the following diagram.

Finally glue the two tabs labelled "glue" in the upper right corner. Your flexagon is now complete. To flex follow the instructions on the following diagram:
